Vivian Starck Bancroft Swift

Born June 7, 1913 in Kanocha, WI, passed away April 3, 2005.

After the death of her husband, Robert Bancroft in 1973, she married Harry Swift in 1986. Harry passed away in 2002. Her sister, Elsa; and brother, Halvar also preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister-in-law; and five nieces.

Vivian earned her BA in Education and her Masters of Home Economics Education: Specialist in Clothing and Textiles at the University of Arizona.

Her students at Amphitheater High School benefitted from her outstanding teaching for over 30 years.

She was the recipient of numerous local, state and national awards for her superior teaching, and for years of community service. She was the author of a secondary school clothing and textiles text book, "It's So, Sew Easy", which was used nationwide. In 1980 she completed a college text, "Basic Techniques and Principles of Apparel Construction".

A memorial service will be held at St. Phillips Church at River and Campbell on Friday, April 8 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to either TMC Hospice, Peppi's House, 5301 E. Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712, or the Vivian B. Swift Memorial Endowment Fund, c/o University Foundation, 1111 N Cherry Ave., PO Box 210109, Tucson, AZ 85721.
