Just a note to thank Linda and whoever else was involved in sending the 5 year survival kit!  It really lifted my spirits after not being able to get away for the reunion this time.  However, it was damaged a bit in the mail - lost the marbles, but still with the aid of the rubber band to stretch beyond my limits and with the aid of the bag I still may be able to keep it all together even though I have lost my marbles.

See you in 5.

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, binoculars in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!"

Have an amazing day!

Don’t know if anyone is interested in these, but they came from Amphi Elementary, now known as L M Prince. -Judy

5th Grade:
[Well, I see my brother Ron Jones, 4th one back in the left row by the bulletin board.  Looks like Lloyd Miller and George Donaldson up front in the right hand row.  Maybe Glenn Ezell in the back of the room, and maybe Jack Curlin in the middle.   Judy is probably  third back in the second row from the left.  I think I recognize John Lieber to her left.   - Charlie]

Hi, I'm actually sending you two different Emails I received from Judy, a very close friend and Classmate. Whether you know her [and her story] or not, I believe you'll receive a blessing from these two pieces.
After I read the first, I called her to let her know how deeply it had touched my heart. (I thought it was an "original" she had written.) Today she sent the follow-up. Now I'm sharing them both with you.
Have a very happy and blessed day. Remember you are loved and that someone would have a much brighter day if they heard from you right now.

Too many people put off something that brings them joy just because they haven't thought about it, don't have it on their schedule, didn't know it was coming or are too rigid to depart from their routine.

I got to thinking one day about all those women on the Titanic who  passed up dessert at dinner that fateful night in an effort to cut back.  From then on, I've tried to be a little more flexible. How many women out there will eat at home because their husband didn't suggest going out to dinner until after something had been thawed? Does the word "refrigeration"  mean nothing to you?

How often have your kids dropped in to talk and sat in silence while you watched 'Jeopardy' on television?  I cannot count the times I  called my sister and said, "How about going to lunch in a half hour?"  She would gasp and stammer, "I can't. I have clothes on the line. My hair is  dirty. I wish I had known yesterday, I had a late breakfast, It looks like rain."   And my personal favorite: "It's Monday." She died a few years ago.

We never did have lunch together.

Because Americans cram so much into their lives, we tend to schedule our  headaches. We live on a sparse diet of promises we make to ourselves when all the conditions are perfect! We'll go back and visit the grandparents when we get Stevie toilet-trained. We'll entertain when we replace the living-room carpet. We'll go on a second honeymoon when we get two more kids out of college.

Life has a way of accelerating as we get older. The days get shorter, and the list of promises to ourselves gets longer. One morning, we awaken, and all we have to show for our lives is a litany of "I'm going to", "I plan on", and "Someday, when things are settled down a bit."

When anyone calls my 'seize the moment' friend, she is open to adventure and available for trips.  She keeps an open mind on new ideas. Her enthusiasm  for life is contagious.  You talk with her for five minutes, and you're ready to trade your bad feet for a pair of roller blades and skip an elevator for a bungee cord.

My lips have not touched ice cream in 10 years.  I love ice cream. It's just that I might as well apply it directly to my stomach with a  spatula and eliminate the digestive process. The other day, I stopped the car and bought a triple-decker. If my car had hit an iceberg on the way home, I would have died happy.

Now...go on and have a nice day. Do something you WANT to...... not something on your SHOULD DO list. If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you say? And why are you waiting? Make sure you read this to the end; you will understand why I sent this toyou.

Have you ever watched kids playing on a merry go round or listened to the rain lapping on the ground? Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

When you ask "How are you?"  Do you hear the reply? When the day is done, do you lie in your bed with the next hundred chores running through your head?

Ever told your child, "We'll do it tomorrow." And in your haste, not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch?  Let a good friendship die? Just call to say "Hi"?  When you worry and hurry through your day, It is like an unopened gift....Thrown away...

Life is not a race. Take it slower. Hear the music before the song is over.

Thanks for the call.  I got to thinking on my way down the hill - gives you a lot of time to think when you drive up and down a mountain for 45 minutes a day with very little traffic - I really don't relate that  message to my sister, because with her health condition, we knew we had to enjoy every day, because we never knew what the next one would hold.  The one I relate it to most is Bob.  He and I thought we would have forever together.  Not that we didn't enjoy a lot of very good times, but so much of it related to the song "I'm in a hurry to get things done..."

Yes, at the last reunion my late husband and I owned and ran an RV Park and Mini Mart.  It became much more difficult after he was killed in an automobile accident in August of 1994.  My sister passed away in February of the following year, and my mom soon therafter.  I was offered a reasonable price for the Park and Mini Mart and sold it.  (The new owners wanted to work 18 hours a day 7 days a week and pay me for the privilege.)  I subsequently built a small house in Peeples Valley, and then started on a larger one, decided that was fun and now I'm designing houses for a living.  The house I'm now living in has no connection with public utilities (solar power, a well with a windmill, horses, etc.) and is a great place to remember what the old days were like when you depended on the sun, rain and wind.  I do have a home office and computer (no internet), but I drive to Prescott to do most of my work, in a pretty laid back environment, and never more than 40 hours a week.

I'm looking forward to the reunion.  Will they mail out a request for updates?  I will definitely want to get one.  I'll try to think up some ideas for Sunday.  The only classmate I keep in touch with that may not hear about it is Barbara Harrison.  She did not graduate with us but was at Amphi for ten years, so I think she counts as a classmate.  I will pass on the info to her.

From Nancy:

Yes, you heard right.  A reunion is planned for October - check www.classmates.com and they'll give you a little blurb on it.  We're trying to come up with something for Sunday - any ideas?  Everybody is so busy that it seemed easier hiring Southwest Reunion Planners to do all the work.  All is well with me - just celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary.  I work for an estate sales business and we're getting ready for a nice sale for Mar. 23rd.  Interesting business!!  When you say you're living a totally different lifestyle/job, what do you mean?  Didn't you own an RV park?  Forgive me if I have you confused with someone else.  Charlie is doing the CD-rom on his own and I will send him your note - he'll be glad to hear from you.  The Planners will have an update for sale - $15.00.  It was good to hear from you.  Everytime I drive down your old street I think about you!!  Gee, Tucson sure has changed!!  Check out Charlie's site - lot of folks listed there with email addresses - http://technidigm.org/amphi62.htm   By the way, who mentioned the reunion to you?  Do you keep in touch with any other classmates?  If so, please let them know about our 40th reunion.  Looking forward to seeing you in Oct.
