Subject: [Amphi62] The passing of a great teacher
Hello,
My name is Scott Howie. I graduated from Amphi High School in 1981.
I was
doing a google search for old friends and teachers from my high school days
when I decided to try to find my sophomore history teacher. I still
remember the day. It was September 02, 1978. My father, brother, and myself
had just moved to Tucson from Maryland and I was starting my first day of
school. I remember how warm, but dry, it was.
I was led down a long open
breezeway into a classroom full of students that looked much older than I.
The instructor looked at me and asked "Do you think that you can handle
this class?" I remember him asking me how can a sophomore take a senior
class? The rest is history (no pun intended).
I will remember his
straightforward questions and his interesting comments. I thought he was an
excellent instructor and person. I will always remember him. He left a
positive, indelible mark on me.
