Thanks for sending this on.

Was in Kansas City Fri to last night for our son’s birthday.  Was thinking I should call Ted, but due to all the rain and flooding in KC we spent the whole wkend mopping the basement and trying to reroute his gutters and down spouts.  Never got around to looking up his no.  Good thing I guess under the circumstances.

Will write Nancy

Hope all is well with you and your family.

Subject: George Jackson's gathering

Dear Charlie,

Embarrassed I haven't written you since the reunion.  I have meant to thank you for all your hard work on the reunion and for the video and CD.  I was in the hospital when they arrived and my son who was here told me something had arrived from you.  I played the video, but haven't
tried the CD yet.  Will have to go to someplace with a CD drive.

I was kind of out of commission for awhile.  We also had a trip to Europe planned before I had surgery; so 7 weeks after that we went for 2 1/2 weeks to Europe.  It was day-to-day as to whether we would go, but glad we did.  We drove around ourselves and knew we could just quit and sit for awhile if I needed to slow down.  But did OK.  Trying to catch up now.  Got yours and
Nancy's emails about George Sat. morning.  Called the no. for info and decided to head up to Evergreen (an hr. drive) even though we knew we wouldn't get there by 11AM.  It was not a funeral, it was what they called a gathering.  I guess kind of like a wake without the booze.  I thought you might like to see the memorial brochure.  Howard scanned it.  Takes my computer 15 min. to send it!!!! Met George's sister, Janice there.  She still lives in Tucson.  I didn't know anyone else there.  Howard knew one other mining person there.  Howard had done business with George over the years since we were all in the mining game.

Thanks again for all your hard work, and sorry to be so long in telling you that.  Need to thank Ted also.

Dear Charlie,

Finally getting around to sending you a bio.  Guess I couldn't find anything interesting to say!

I graduated from the U of A with a B.S. and a M.S. in geology/mineralogy. I married a fellow geology grad student, Howard, from Douglas, AZ in 1967 and we moved to Silver City, New Mexico where our 2 childern were born: Kristi now 30 and Steven 27.  We later lived in Wyoming and 2 parts of Colorado.  We have been in the Denver area for 21 years.  I retired in 2001 from a talc mining/milling company and Howard has worked at several mines and companies in many commodities traveling to many countries, under some harrowing circumstances at times.  He started a job with a gravel Co. this year.

We love to travel.  I have been to 49 states (anyone live in KY that I can come visit?), and 16 countries.  We hope to get to several European countries next yr.  Our favorite trip was to the Galapagos Islands. We like to camp and fish, but CO is becoming too crowded to do much of that anymore.

Kristi graduated from the U of CO, and lives in the Denver area where she is a Product Manager for an internet travel co.  She got married last year and I have included a picture from her wedding of her, her husband and our son.

Steven lives in Kansas City, MO and works enough hours at Citicorp to get benefits as National Communications Assistant, Webmaster, and Photographer.  He also is midwest reporter for a magazine, works part time at the Symphony and Starlight Theater and is on the board of the Vaile Mansion. In his spare time he is getting an MBA. He really wanted to be a writer, but has 3 unpublished novels. Over the years I have kept up with Nancy Hillhouse, and Diana Cleland, and have run into George Jackson at mining conventions over the yrs.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion. Have included a pic taken last mo.

Charlie,  A couple or three years ago Nancy Ruhl sent me an article from, I think the Tucson paper.  It was about Art.  Unfortunately that was our Art who was killed in the helicopter crash.  Julie H.

Julie,

Thanks for the info. I hope you do not mind if I post it and send it to others. I am trying to set up an Internet facilitator for class communications,.  Just started yesterday and, of course, wanted to contact you right away. I just looked in the 30th reunion book, guessed you might be at the same company, and guessed what email address might make it to you. Have to admit that your web master must have set a good email catcher get this one.

I am still on the East Coast, in Germantown, MD. I have been doing independent nuclear safety consulting for the past five years. The two daughters (Susan and Jennifer) are out the door, married, and happy. Have one grandchild and one on the way. Ginny and I are still married after 33 years, and we seem to be busier than ever. She teaches reading (i.e., Reading Specialist) at a local elementary school.

I already have some feedback from Joanne Barrecca that others are already working on a reunion, so I will forward that email as well.

Charlie

Hey Charlie, How in the world did you find this email address? Our home address is howardharlan@compuserve.com if you want to have that also. Don't know if anyone is planning a get together or not. I keep in touch with Nancy and Diana, but that is all.  Nancy keeps in touch with a lot of people.  She is always telling me about someone.  She saw Sherri Zellar recently. Haven't been to Tucson in a couple years.  Howard's mother died at our house this summer and we need to take her ashes to AZ soon. Haven't gotten there yet.

I see you are still back East. Nice to hear from you. Would love to have a reunion again. Keep in touch. Julie de Azevedo Harlan

Hi,

Thought I would try to get a few email addresses together in case there is a movement to get the Class of 62 together again in a couple of years.
