  Tucson Time Capsule:  Retirement? Phooey!

For some folks, retirement is not all it's cracked up to be.  That was definitely the case with Harriet Nichols. The Amphitheater High School business education teacher had tried to retire in 1979, after more than 40 years of teaching in Tucson. But her love of teaching was too strong to keep he...

Subject: Picture of 6th grade class at Wetmore School

Charlie, let me know if these pictures came out okay.Doris at retirement...

I just dug up some pictures from the 6th grade class at Wetmore School.   I know John Leiber, John Umoto and I went to Wetmore School.  The old Wetmore School now is the Administrative Offices for the Amphi School District.

My granddaughter is going to Amphi High School, she is a sophomore this year, she belongs to the Student Council and plays in the Amphi Band.  I asked her what they were planning for us 60 year old people.  She said that a couple of the Student Council members were going to take us on a tour of the school, and that during the game the band was going to play a special number for us.  They will be having game booths after the game.  I suppose this means I will need to go to the football game, so that I can see Lexxie perform, she plays the trombone.  Lexxie is third generation in my family to go to Amphi.Spring play

I also wanted to let everyone know that Amphi played Sabino High School last night.  Sabino had not lost a game all season, but they did last night, Amphi beat them 36 to 28.  Yeah Amphi!  Amphi has only lost two games all season, so we haven't done too bad.

I have also enclosed an updated picture of me taken last year when I retired from working for the Arizona Supreme Court after 23 years.

I will be going to the party with my daughter, Michelle.Wetmore class, 6th grade

Thanks,

Doris
