Subject: RE: Web Page.
Charles, what a humbling realization, that no one
could
remember the Prom Queen! Certainly gave me a grin, (and some chagrin.)
Didn't think you'd be able to tell much about your
work,
still it sounds mysterious and intriguing.
As to the cost of the tape, why should you bear it? I will send you five bucks ASAP, and thanks for all your work.
By the way, if Larry Vance or whomever is doing the computer graphics for the reunion needs any help, let me know. I am no guru of e-mail movies, but have had training in computer illustration.
Thanks for the info,
June
June,
Yes, we were unreasonably mature in high school, perhaps something that afflicts all young people so that they can blissfully face life's challenges. I note that you were in a lot of high school organizations, so you were pretty busy. I usually put the classmate's graduation picture on their page. In your case I thought the prom queen picture would be appropriate as well. This is particularly true due to the fact that the people at the reunion who participated in the "trivia contest" could not remember the name of the prom queen.
The Navy nuclear program is all classified, so not much is usually said about that arena. I spent 13 years in the Navy nuclear propulsion program, working on surface ships rather than submarines. I served on the aircraft carrier Enterprise during the Vietnam War, and I helped to build and test the nuclear plants on the aircraft carrier Nimitz in the early 70s.
I am currently working as a consultant to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Department of Energy, doing technical inspections of nuclear facility safety systems and operations. Well, at least that is what I am supposed to be doing, but the work has dried up a lot the last couple of years. Happily, the nuclear power plants are probably getting safer all the time without my help.
I will make you a copy of the reunion tape (2 hours of various activities) and send it along shortly. The cost is only five dollars (blank tape and postage), since you asked, but payment is optional. I have sent out about 80 tapes, and only about 10 people have donated toward the costs. The goal is to get the tapes out there and promote classmate interest in keeping in touch and in going to reunions.
Best,
Charlie
Charlie,
It was nice of you to include my old pictures from
the
high school year book. I lost my yearbook long ago, in one of the many
moves. Strange to see how really young we were, though I remember
thinking
at the time that we were all so mature.
Read your bio and see that you are still doing
consulting
work on nuclear power plants. I have a friend who's husband did the
same
on nuclear subs. It is a type of work about which I know very little.
Is
it classified, or can you tell us what (in laymen's terms), you do?

Charlie,
Here's a picture taken of my husband Paul and myself at a family reunion last week in northern Kansas. Not too clear, but at least it's recent.
Been reading all the bios you have done, and it looks like you have put a lot of work into this. It's good that somebody in our class has taken it upon themselves to keep everybody connected. Should have known it would have been you.
Thanks,
June
Charlie,
Thank you for your quick reply! I am amazed at all you and Jack are doing to keep the class of 1962 organized. A web page would be great! I will jpeg and scan in a recent photo of my husband and myself, just gotta find a photo from the last year or so. Does it seem like forty one years to you since we graduated? Sure doesn't to me.
I moved to Alaska in 1979, where I met my husband Paul (Hunt). He was a bush pilot at that time. I had opened a hair stying shop in Fairbanks and he came in for a haircut . Turned out to be the most expensive haircut the poor guy ever got, as we were married three months later. That was twenty-four years ago, and he's still putting up with me.
We lived all over the place since then, including
five
years in Saudi Arabia, the only five of the last forty that have gone
slowly.
During that same time, we bought a small farm in Arkansas and spent our
vacations back here in the states remodeling the old farm house.
When we returned from Saudi, we operated an airport and
flight courier service there in Arkansas, then moved to Tucson
for
a year or so, when Paul was hired as an instructor for Flight Safety.
About five years ago he went to work for Lear Jet, and and we spent three years in Kansas City. At present, we are living in Wichita, KS, where he is manager of Lear's Field Service department.
I am taking classes in gerontology and fine art at Wichita State U. No particular goal in mind, just enjoy it. I paint portraits and wildlife, and teach a little art in the neighborhood.
We have a "blended" family, consisting of my daughter and Paul's two sons. They are all married, and live in Arkansas. We try to get down there to see them every couple of months.
Well, this is entirely too much info for one letter, but sure is great to hear from you, Jack, and Joyce Anderson. Hope to see everyone at the next reunion. Also sorry to hear about Art Toomey, he was a very interesting guy and a true adventurer.
Be talking to you again soon.
My address: 324 N. Broadview St., Wichita, KS 67208
Regards,
June
June,
Yes, I remember you well. It is so nice to hear from you!! Sorry that we could not connect in time for you to make it to the reunion. There are many pictures on the web site from the reunion (http://technidigm.org/amphi62reunion2002.htm), and I can send you a copy of the reunion tape if you give me your address. We had a great time!
Also, I will start a web page for you with whatever bio info and pictures you would like to share, including family pictures, Christmas letter, recipes or whatever. A good example of such a page is Jan Vecchio's page at http://technidigm.org/contacts/allenj.htm.
Best regards,

Hi, Charlie, I am glad to find your web page! I am a
classmate
of yours from 1962. My maiden name was June Sherrill. I found your site
on Classmates.com.and would like to add my name to your e-mail list. jhuntart at cox.net.
I have talked to Bob Nichols fairly recently, and intended to see him
when
I was back in Tucson last, but my mother passed away during that time
and
I was not able to see him. Would love to see you all at the next
reunion.
Am very shocked and saddened to hear about George Jackson.
